Results of the prestigious Rajasthan Administrative Services (RAS) exam were announced on Tuesday night. Among the selected candidates is a single mother from Rajasthan's Jodhpur district, who was working at the city's municipal corporation as a sanitary worker to financially support her family. Realising her life-long dream of becoming a civil servant, Asha Kandara has made her family proud by proving that passion trumps any and all obstacles that life throws at you!

Asha Kandara had started preparing for the state administrative service examinations, post her graduation and her hard work has finally yielded results. Her passion was fuelled by observing the RAS officers, whose rooms she cleaned as a sanitary worker, under the authority of the Jodhpur Municipal Corporation (North).

After separating from her husband 8 years ago, Kandara soldiered on with her preparations and undertook the responsibility of her daughter and son. Securing 728th rank in the state, she has successfully cracked the RAS exam against all odds and will now be relieved of her duties as a sanitary worker.

Kandara had been working at the Jodhpur Municipal Corporation for almost 2 years as she had to financially support her family. While her employment was temporary, recently she was given a permanent job, hardly 12 days before the results of the RAS examination were announced.
