After a successful trial run, Jaipur Municipal Corporation's (JMC) - Heritage department is all set to convert the Jaipur night market into a usual affair on the weekends. The market is proposed to be set up before Diwali at the alluring Jal Mahal complex, promising a panoramic view to the shoppers and facilitating an experience which is both unique and versatile. With the onset of Diwali, this will be a great space to stock up on festive essentials this season.

Successful 2 day-night trial run in September

One of the most wonderful sights in Jaipur is the magnificent Jal Mahal or Lake Palace. Last month, a two day-night market was conducted at the Jal Mahal complex where people flocked in great numbers. Around 15,000 people visited on the first day, following which the administration had to keep 5,000 extra tickets for the second day. Tickets were priced at ₹50 only.

Three companies had put-up 50 stalls each at the day-night market. One from these three is now selected to run the market on the weekends. The average cost to roll this market for a year is estimated at ₹2 crores.

A chance for local vendors to boast sales

Local markets promote the identity of a locality by building a sense of belonging for residents and integrating local initiatives into a single whole, while building attractiveness of the region for tourists and investors. The new weekly market will motivate local vendors to set up stalks highlighting the culture of Jaipur.
