JDA to build 4 new flyovers in Jaipur to resolve traffic woes

The main goal of the upcoming flyovers will be to ease out traffic issues. This will also help make routes in Jaipur a lot more future proof.

In an ever growing city like Jaipur, traffic can often cause problems at prime locations. Working towards easing traffic woes, the Jaipur Development Authority and National Highways Development Authority (NHAI) are planning to build not one, but 4 new flyovers in Jaipur at Bhankrota, Heerapura, Narshingpura and Mahlan respectively. The approval for the project was given by authorities in June, this year, however, the tenders haven’t been floated yet.

Conflict of authority between JDA and NHAI

Due to ongoing discussion upon authority of jurisdiction between JDA and NHAI, the project has not been taken up yet. Nevertheless, the outline of the project has been planned over several times at Traffic Control Board (TCB) meetings. 

In the meantime, the perennial traffic problems at prime locations have only escalated, frequented by accidents near Bhankrota, Mahapura and Heerapura routes. The new flyovers will not only provide relief to atleast 2 lakh people leaving in adjacent colonies but, also improve Jaipur’s road network.
