Sigh of relief for Jaipur, as NHAI approved four new flyovers at major junctions

Somya Agarwal

With the increasing population, traffic snarls have become a perennial problem for Jaipur and other growing cities. In order to cater to the trouble of never-ending traffic jams at prime locations in Jaipur, the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) approved the plan to construct four new flyovers.

Jaipur Development Authority (JDA) will take up the construction work of these flyovers at Bhankrota, Heerapura, Narsinghpura and Mahlan routes. These points are regarded as major traffic black spots.

Urban traffic problem to resolve with new flyovers

Earlier, JDA was unable to take up the project as its periphery ended at the C-zone bypass, making the project fall under NHAI jurisdiction. However, as per reports, in a Traffic Control Board (TCB) meeting, a strong emphasis was given to the construction of flyovers at Mahapura and Bhankrota. These flyovers will help resolve traffic issues on Mahlan route.

Due to traffic congestion in the past, frequent accidents near Bhankrota, Mahapura and Heerapura had raised concerns highlighting the need for smooth traffic movement at these locations. As per the reports, the new flyovers will provide relief to at least two lakh people living in the nearby colonies.

Further, NHAI plans to undertake 10 more flyovers to unclog and provide safe passage between the Jaipur-Kishangarh stretch.
