Green Park Stadium's facelift project: Gym & badminton/TT hall revamped for players in Kanpur

In order to facilitate Kanpur's iconic Green Park Stadium with state-of-the-art amenities as well as world-class sports facilities, a project has begun under the wing of the Kanpur Smart City, in collaboration with the sports department.

After what could be called a result of many demands by the public to renovate the stadium, leaps in improvement can be observed. Recently, pictures of a revamped gym facility, and badminton/table table hall at the stadium were shared on Twitter.

The redevelopment project, under its umbrella, includes modernisation of four badminton courts and six TT centres, with an overall goal to make the stadium a national sports hub yet again.

 More amenities for players at Green Park Stadium

Once the most famous and sought after permanent test centre of BCCI, the international standard cricket stadium of Kanpur has been in dire need of upgradation. Also the home ground for the state cricket team, the overall renovation project also aims at ensuring that players in and around Kanpur have access to advanced sports facilities.

Apart from the newly revamped badminton and TT courts, the site will also be equipped with a seating capacity of some 100 players, digital display boards, various civic amenities, more entry and exit points, in addition to separate lockers and changing rooms for men and women.

Recently, Green Park also saw the installation of a comprehensive visitors' gallery which has brought alive the place's rich history in front of the spectators. The gallery comprises snapshots and mementos reminiscing some most memorable cricket matches played at the stadium.
