Amid the dire circumstances of the ongoing pandemic, a group of altruistic citizens from the Kanpur wing of the Indian Industries Association have come to the rescue of COVID infected people. Launched with the aim to benefit a large count of people employed in the factories under IIA, the initiative is providing free consultation facilities besides assuring supplies of medical necessities at a nominal price. As a part of this program, packets containing thermometer, oximeter and other required things are being given to the deprived individuals, hit by the contagion.

In order to attain free medical consultation, the concerned party will have to visit the institution's office and acquaint the officials about the problems. After that, they will be provided telephonic advice by medical professionals. Further, the COVID isolation kits can be procured from the centre at a minimal cost of ₹10, after providing a copy of the Adhaar Card.

Speaking to Knocksense over the phone, Alok Agarwal, Divisional Chairman of IIA Kanpur said, "All factory workers have been told that they will be provided with free teleconsultation services. Further, medical kits will be given to them to assure that have access to the basic treatment. A token fee of 10 rupees is being taken to make sure that his facility is not misused." He informed that the kits contain medicines advised for COVID treatment coupled with N-95 masks, a sanitiser bottle and a digital thermometer. In addition to this, an oximeter will also be provided if the beneficiary promises to return after use.

Similar schemes implemented in the past too

This is not the first time that the organisation has come forward to work for the welfare of its workers and the citizens, at large. In the past, free medical consultation drives for poor patients were conducted at the centre every Tuesday. Due to the pandemic, this facility has been suspended temporarily and it will be revived once the situation eases.
