These two institutions have entered into an agreement, with two Italian institutions, bound by an MoU to seek relevant skills for the same.

IIT-K employs scientific approach to restore monuments

The monuments will be subjected to various activities under the contracted MoU, which all will be coordinated by Prof. Mukesh Sharma who is in the department of Civil Engineering at the Kanpur college. Signing the agreement, IIT-K, Ca'Foscari University of Venice, Soprintendenza Archeologia, Belle Arti E Paesaggio, Venice, aim at the final objective of creating a network and sharing skills for restoration and protection of historical monuments.

By the MoU, the stakeholder institutions have agreed to develop scientific study activities, sharing skills, and building a network to share pertinent information to restore and protect monuments on a reciprocal and equal basis. Professor Sharm said, "All institutes shall seek to promote collaboration and activities in areas such as collaboration in scientific studies and skill sharing, the exchange of knowledge, experience, academic materials and publications, conducting workshops, undertaking joint field studies and technology development."

Explaining further, the civil engineering professor also said that a particular plan will be drafted for each preservation activity, depending upon the availability of the resources and degree of protection and restoration required by the monuments.
