Knocksense Shorts | Administration imposes Section 144 in Kanpur due to a surge in COVID cases

Kanpur's active tally reached 188 after 25 new COVID cases were reported on Sunday. Out of these 25, 8 cases were reported from IIT Kanpur while 17 from Keshavpuram, Naurangabad, Barra, Gadariya Mohal, Pratapgarh, Rajeev Nagar, Kidwai Nagar, Shuklaganj, Dada Nagarother areas in the city.

Considering the surge in numbers, the authorities have imposed Section 144 in Kanpur and those found violating it, will be penalised under Section 188 of IPC. The restrictions are likely to stay in place for about a month.
