Kanpur's historic Green Park gears up for upgrades after a series of setbacks in 2024

Questions have been raised about the stadium's quality of stands and more.

This year has not been a good one for Kanpur's Green Park, a famous stadium that has hosted a number of important matches. From reports of 'unsafe stands' during the India vs Bangladesh test series to the 'one demerit' point it got from the International Cricket Council (ICC) for poor outfield, questions have been raised about the stadium's state.

But now, the Green Park Stadium is in focus and an elaborate plan has been made to upgrade it on the lines of Lucknow's Ekana International Stadium.

Seating capacity to be raised to 50,000 people

A blueprint has been made to increase Green Park stadium's capacity to 50,000 spectators. Furthermore, the drainage system at the stadium will also be improved to ensure that its outfield stays at the levels that are required today. A thorough review of all the stadium's basic amenities will be conducted and the necessary changes will be made, thereafter.
