The construction at the Baradevi to Naubasta elevated section of 23km-long Corridor-1 of the Kanpur Metro Project started on Monday. The total length of the elevated section is 5.42 km, with five stations falling under it- Baradevi, Vasant Vihar, Kidwai Nagar, Baudh Nagar, and Naubasta.

Reportedly, this is the second elevated section of Corridor-1 (IIT to Naubasta) after the 9km-long priority section from IIT to Motijheel, on which metro services are currently operational.

As of now, UPMRCL has successfully completed the tunnelling work on the 84-meter-long segment between Chunniganj and Nayaganj. UPMRCL has planned the construction of the Kanpur Metro in two phases, of which phase 1 includes the construction of a 23 km long metro corridor between IIT Kanpur and Naubasta, while phase 2 includes the construction of the 8 km long corridor from Chandrashekhar Azad University to Barra-8.
