In an effort to reduce costs, CSA Metro Station in Kanpur will now be elevated rather than underground, which is what was previously planned. Further on the same line, starting from Rawatpur, the line will go underground, while the station itself will come up at Company Bagh Chauraha. Reportedly, UPMRC has already instructed the administration to prepare designs for the updated plans.

Under the first corridor of the Kanpur Metro Rail Project, Metro services are operational on a 9 km long Priority Section from IIT to Motijheel. Beyond this, construction work on a 7 km long underground stretch are being executed in two phases--one is between Chunniganj and Nayaganj and the other between Kanpur Central and Transport Nagar.
