Knocksense Shorts| IIT Kanpur and BHEL tie up for research-development in defense and aerospace

This initiative will be a step towards attaining opportunities in the Indian Defense and Aerospace sectors

IIT Kanpur and BHEL have joined hands to sign a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to work on the opportunities emerging in the Indian defense and Aerospace sectors. The organizations have agreed to form a task force comprising individuals from both, in order to achieve the key objectives outlined in the MoU.

This partnership will take forward the Uttar Pradesh defense Industrial Corridor Initiative with technology developments at IIT Kanpur, followed by manufacturing at Bharat Heavy Electricals Ltd (BHEL). Abhay Karandikar, Director of IIT Kanpur, said, “It would surely accelerate the steps towards exploring multi-disciplinary avenues of growth in these crucial sectors.”

Moreover, this project will help promote ‘Make In India’ and ‘Atmanirbhar Bharat’ movements for Uttar Pradesh and the entire country.
