In a novel invention, IIT Kanpur has come up with an impressive 'suicide drone'. The drone can carry a weapon or explosives up to 6 kg and has a flying range of about 100 km within 40 minutes of launch. The development, under DRDO's DYSL project, has been made with the vision to serve the Indian Army.

The drone, 2 metres in length, is also foldable. Some of the features include an installed camera and infrared sensor. Moreover, the battery-operated drone utilises Artificial Intelligence (Visual Guidance) to attack and can be launched from a catapult or canister. It has also been equipped with stealth technology.

In order to test the drone and access it further, target destruction trials will be conducted in the next six months, confirmed Subramaniam Sadrala, Assistant Professor of the Aerospace Department.
