In a move that could make Kanpur Police the largest commissionerate in UP, the department has sent a proposal to the government to build 9 new police stations in the city. Out of the 9 new police stations in city, 4 have been proposed within Kanpur city and 5 for the outer areas of Kanpur.

The areas of Kanpur for which the police stations have been proposed include Indira Nagar, Shastri Nagar, Koyla Nagar, Panki Ind Area, Patara, Reuna, Bhitargaon, Uttaripura, and Sen Paschimpara.
