Aiming to increase the scope of immunisation, the authorities in Kanpur have buckled up their efforts to make sure that a large part of the city population stands inoculated soon. As per the latest developments, the officials are now trying to increase the count of daily vaccinations at Green Park International Stadium, to 5,000. Reportedly, the centre started with 1200 daily vaccinations after being launched and now it inoculates nearly 3,800 beneficiaries across 17 booths.
Number of booths and their individual capacities to be increased
Apart from the drives focused on citizens in the 18-44 age category, the centre is also witnessing vaccination schedules for the elderlies and the guardians of young kids. Reportedly, the Health Department is now planning to increase the number of booths so that the count of beneficiaries can be increased. In addition to this, the officials are also working to expand the capacity of each booth. With the growing pace of inoculation, it is expected that the stadium may soon evolve as a vaccination site with the highest number of footfalls.
Reportedly, the Industrial Development Minister has called for a day-night vaccination facility and a feasible plan is being worked out for this. Once functional, it is anticipated that the service will accelerate the drives in the city, helping in the inoculation of a large number of citizens.
6,52,392 vaccine doses administered in Kanpur so far!
Propelled by the targeted interventions of the city authorities, the vaccination drives in Kanpur have been successful in benefitting a significant chunk of the total residents. The daily count of beneficiaries has been consistently been over the 10k mark for the past few days. On Sunday, 102 new infections and 25 recoveries were recorded in Kanpur while the active tally stood at 334 patients. Given the uncertain situation, vaccination is the most important step to combat the contagion.
