Kanpur's Swaroop Nagar is all set to get its first multi-storey commercial complex. Kanpur Municipal Corporation has already called tenders for the construction of said complex, which will be built on a land of 4900 km sq and will have eight floors along with two basements for parking facilities.

Complex to be built on Swaroop Nagar clock tower's land

The municipal corporation has earmarked land in Swaroop Nagar's clock tower for building the new commercial complex in Kanpur. The said land, which earlier housed a bustling market, had already been vacated by the corporation in 2021. Former DM of Kanpur, Vishak G Iyer, had also reviewed the land and the blueprint to build the new complex.

The construction work for the complex is expected to start after June 2023 and we can expect much more clarity on the intricate details of the project after March 15, which is the deadline for calling tenders. Once completed and ready, the complex will greatly benefit both the municipal corporation and Kanpurites, who have thus far welcomed the step.
