Work on 380 km long Ghaziabad-Kanpur expressway to begin soon: NHAI

90% of land to be used for the project has already been acquired by NHAI.

According to a statement by the National Highway Authority of India, work on the four-lane Ghaziabad-Kanpur expressway is all set to begin soon. Passing through 9 UP districts, the new 380 kilometers long expressway is expected reduce the travel time between Kanpur and Ghaziabad to 3 hours, cutting it by more than half.

NHAI has committed to the use of latest tech for construction of the expressway

Construction of the Ghaziabad-Kanpur expressway, which is estimated to cost around ₹5,000 crore, will be done in such a way as to minimize any adverse impact on the environment. Furthermore, the construction work will also be done in phases, in an attempt to avoid major disruptions in traffic flow.

According to the NHAI, the proposed four-lane expressway between Ghaziabad and Kanpur will be equipped with all the latest security and convenience arrangements such as CCTV cameras, emergency call boxes, and variable message signs.

Lastly, the proposed expressway is also an attempt to boost economic activity within the state, connecting the two industrial cities of Ghaziabad and Kanpur.
