To decongest chronically clogged areas like Rajajipuram and Chowk.

The Uttar Pradesh State Bridge Corporation has proposed a 13-kilometre elevated flyover to connect Lucknow’s older and newer areas. The four-lane structure over the Haider Canal will link Dr. Shakuntala Devi Mishra University on Agra Road to Kalidas Marg.

Officials claim the ₹2,270-crore project could drastically cut peak-hour travel time between these points from over an hour to just 15-20 minutes. It aims to decongest chronically clogged areas like Rajajipuram, Talkatora, and Chowk, providing better access to central hubs like Hazratganj and Gomti Nagar.

Beyond easing commutes, the flyover is expected to reduce fuel consumption, lower emissions, and boost the economic prospects of surrounding localities. The project now awaits final state government approval.
