In a bid to assure amplified availability and access of opportunities for all, Lucknow will soon encapsulate a stadium for 'divyangs', the specially-abled individuals. Claimed as the first facility of its kind in the country, the stadium is being established at the Dr. Shakuntala Mishra National Rehabilitation University(SMNRU) in the capital city of Uttar Pradesh. Additionally, the government is also planning to institute a medical college for the handicapped.

Aggregating advanced sports facilities, the stadium will become a breeding ground for specially-abled people, having a knack for games and athletics. Besides ensuring proper training for the sports enthusiasts, the stadium would also witness umpteen events in the future. As per the statements issued by the state administration, the upcoming stadium will help in hosting notable sports events for the specially-abled citizens, including Asiad Games and International Paralympics.
Minister for Divyang welfare said, "Divyang players will get ample opportunity to hone talent and showcase it at the international level. The government will organize competitions like Asiad and Paralympics which will give Divyang players a new identity." Further, Registrar of SMNRU, Amit Kumar Singh mentioned that supplemental amenities are being developed to suit the needs of differently-abled players.

While the facility of floodlights shall ensure smooth organisation of events in the night, there is an arrangement for the live broadcast of games like badminton, wrestling and basketball. In addition to this, football matches can also be conducted here while the stadium also encircles a gym and an athletics track.
Speaking about the proposed medical college, the Minister said, "A proposal has been prepared by the department and sent to the government for its approval. He added that the college would offer research facilities for study on the causes of disability and treatment facilities, especially for differently-abled."
