In an attempt to boost the export of locally sourced ethnic and indigenous agricultural products, APEDA is all set to introduce 'Singhaada' (Water Chestnut) in the Gulf markets.

In fact, the first consignment of 400 kg of Varanasi's Water Chestnut has already been sent to Dubai by APEDA (Agricultural and Processed Food Products Export Development Authority).

A virtual flag-off ceremony was also held to mark the dispatch of the water chestnut consignment to the United Arab Emirates. It is noteworthy that before Singhaada, a range of green vegetables, marigold flowers, and mangoes from UP had already been sent to the Gulf markets.

For now, APEDA has been doubling efforts on giving a platform to indigenous agricultural produce from the Purvanchal region, especially from Varanasi.
