The 20th Inter Institutional Sports Meet, Sangathan at Amity University, Lucknow campus was officially declared open on September 20th.
The annual mega sporting fest was formally inaugurated in the presence of Chief Guest – Mr Indra Mani Tripathi, Municipal Commissioner; Guest of Honour, Mr RP Singh, Sports Director UP; Advisor to Chairman Maj Gen KK Ohri AVSM (Retd), Officiating Pro VC Prof (Dr) Sunil Dhaneshwar, Assistant Pro VC and Director Amity School of Engineering and technology, Wing Cdr ( Retd ) Dr Anil Kumar Tiwari, Dean Student Welfare, Prof (Dr) Manju Agarwal, Director Projects Mr Naresh Chandra, HOIs, staff, faculty and students.
Initiating the proceedings - a Mashaal was carried by students and sports captains across the stadium. The Mashaal was lit in the stadium by the dignitaries.
Dean Student Welfare Prof (Dr) Manju Agarwal administered the Sangathan oath and a welcome address was given by Offg Pro VC, Prof ( Dr ) Sunil Dhaneshwar.
The momentous event also saw felicitation of six athletes – international athlete, Mr Gulab Singh, National athlete, Mr. Rahul Sharma, National long jump gold medallist and Silver medallist in International Long Jump, Mr. Rishabh Risheshwar, International Athlete, Ms. Suman, Asiad 2018 silver medallist in 3000 mts Ms Sudha Singh and Ms. Kamlesh, COACH of Rahul, Rishabh and Sudha Singh.
Sangathan as a sports event aims to inculcate values related to sports like team spirit, camaraderie, competitive spirit, dedication, hard work among other qualities. The month long sports fest across campuses of Amity University celebrates the life and works of Founder President Dr. Ashok K. Chauhan.
Sangathan that happens simultaneously in different campuses brings together the sporting talent from across 150 Amity institutions, 17 schools and those from abroad to pay respect to Amity’s Founder President. It culminates on October 24 at Amity Noida campus on the birthday of the founder President. Sangathan 2018 will be witness to a gamut of sporting events cutting across around 35 sporting disciplines including Hockey, Cricket, Football, Tennis, Squash amongst others. The faculty and staff members also participate in various sports events.
