Amitabh Bachchan begins shooting for 'The Umesh Chronicles' in Lucknow

While the lanes of Lucknow are still reminiscing the 'attar battar' and ''hattar pattar' of Amitabh Bachchan's Gulabo Sitabo, the Shahenshah of Bollywood - Amitabh Bacchan is back in the City of Nawabs for his Bollywood next 'The Umesh Chronicles". This Pooja Kaul directorial, starring Big-B in the limelight, will run a 20-day shoot schedule in the city. Reportedly, the production commenced on Saturday, at Colvin Taluqdars' College in Lucknow.

Big-B in Town!

When Amitabh Bachchan took to his social media on Saturday to announce his new work, nobody could have guessed that Big-B was landing in Lucknow. Well, the word is out now that Senior Bachchan is shooting 'The Umesh Chronicles' in the city for the next 20 days.

Penned and directed by Pooja Kaul, a Sweden-based filmmaker, The Umesh Chronicles explores the moments and encounters that shape a person and attempts to tell of the soul of a nation. "We want to document a way of being that is fast vanishing, maybe vanished, with a sense of place and time so authentic it can almost be smelled", said Kaul during an early conversation on the film. The screenplay maps a story set in the 80s, with Big-B essaying the main role.

If reports are to be believed, Amitabh Bachhan will also be shooting a segment of Sooraj Barjatya’s ‘Uunchai' in Lucknow. A number of local artists will be joining the actor for both works, said sources.

So yes, while all Amitabh Bachchan fans can watch him back-in-action on the silver screen in Jhund or the upcoming 'Runway 34', cinephiles in Lucknow have the chance to watch him live, filming for his next projects, right here in the city!
