Uttar Pradesh has long been revered as a significant treasure trove of religious tourism in India, with countless ancient heritage sites that captivate both local and international tourists alike.

While renowned cities such as Mathura-Vrindavan, Varanasi, and Prayagraj are immensly popular among visitors, there are numerous other cities here which carry an untapped potential to bolster tourism.

In the recent declaration of the state budget for the financial year 2023-24, the UP government has earmarked a whopping sum of ₹19,000 crores for sprucing up these ancient sites, to develop tourism circuits and publicize UP's tourism industry.

Ambitious plans for the Vedic city of Naimisharanya

For the redevelopment and beautification of religious centres of the state, the administration will work on the construction of connecting roads and broadening intracity road networks of Ayodhya. New parking slots will also be developed in the city.

On the other hand the Vedic City of Naimisharanya will also receive a major makeover under which the government has also sanctioned a sum of ₹2.5 crores for the development of ecotourism in the nearby area and the surrounding villages.

How will the move benefit the marked cities?

Other projects under the ambitious plan include the development of tourism circuits lying between the Gorakhpur-Devipatan-Dumariyaganj and Jewar-Dadri-Sikandarabad-Noida-Khurja sections.

In a nutshell, the government is eyeing to promote the state as a major tourism centre of the country. This will not only help in aiding the economy of the state but will also aid the lifestyle of localites in the cities.

The move is further expected to revitalize the local economy, enhance the quality of life for residents in select cities and will also aid in generating employment opportunities.
