Become an expert at solving crimes; Apply for forensic science courses at UPSIFS in Lucknow

Aditya Vikram

Hey! True crime enthusiasts from UP. Isn't it cool how forensic experts solve cases with help of the tiniest clues? Well, now you can become that expert with UP government's new forensic science courses, which will be available from the next academic session at the Uttar Pradesh State Institute of Forensic Science (UPSIFS) in Lucknow.

The institute will offer 5 different courses related to forensic science

A total of 5 courses will be made available at the institute, which are as follows:

  • BSc/MSc Forensic Science (5 years)

  • PG Diploma in Forensic Document Examination (1 year diploma)

  • PG Diploma in Cyber Security (1 year diploma)

  • PG Diploma in DNA Forensic (1 year diploma)

  • PG Diploma in Forensic Ballistics and Explosives (1 year diploma)

UPSIFS will take in 160 students for these courses with 40 seats available in BSc/MSc Forensic Science and 30 each vacant in the other 4 forensic science courses.

Interested students can apply for admission till May 22

The fees for admission into the forensic science institute has been kept at ₹12,000 per semester, which is relatively reasonable for a course as technical as forensic science. This has been done to encourage youngsters from economically weaker strata of society to pursue a career in the field.

Interested students can apply for admission in any of the Uttar Pradesh State Institute of Forensic Sciences courses till May 22 and the course will kick off in July. The admission forms will cost ₹500 for General applicants and ₹250 for SC/ST, OBC, and EWS applicants.
