The proposal to shift the Lucknow zoo from its current location in Hazratganj to Kukrail has finally received a nod from the Central Zoo Authority (CZA). Furthermore, CZA has also given permission for the construction of Night Safari Park at the zoo's new location.

New zoo in Kukrail will be built on 2,027 hectare of forest area

With the CZA permission now secured, the forest department will prepare a Detailed Project Report (DPR) for both the projects for which they will hire a consultant. The proposal states that the relocated zoo in Lucknow will be built on a forest area of 2,027 hectares in Kukrail, which will also include a night safari park, which is the first in the city.

Furthermore, the relocation and night safari projects have been envisioned in such a way as to not disturb the dense area of the forest. To ensure that, most of construction will be done on open areas of the Kukrail forest.
