School on wheels: Old UPSRTC bus to be transformed into a classroom for underprivileged

Khushbu Kirti

Ever heard of a classroom in a bus? You'd soon see smart classes being conducted in a bus for educating the downtrodden, in turn, boosting literacy in the state.

In a bid to uplift the underprivileged, the Uttar Pradesh State Road Transport Corporation (UPSRTC) is selling an old bus to Lucknow Municipal Corporation (LMC) for carrying out classes in them. The initiative is aimed at educating children rescued from beggary through smart classes in safe space.

UPSRTC will refurbish and revamp the abandoned bus before offering it to LMC at a reserved price (approximately 12% of original cost).

The public road transport corporation discards a bus on the basis of its usage. For instance, the big vehicle should be 10 years old and should've covered 11 lakh kms.
