Lucknow health department has announced that the frontline workers of level 3 COVID facilities in the city will be the first set of coronavirus vaccine beneficiaries, in the initial phase of mass immunisation. This priority among the city's other medical staff has been granted keeping in mind the fact that the L-3 COVID workers are most exposed to direct human contact, which makes them highly susceptible to the virus infection.

The vaccine will be then administered to L-2 and L-1 hospital staff, followed by non-COVID staff at other hospitals in Lucknow. So far, the Health Department has chalked out a list of 40,000 front line covid health care workers in its database, who will be vaccinated in the first phase of the immunisation drive.

Lucknow has decided to first administer the vaccine at bigger COVID health care facilities first, followed by smaller setups and then to the non-covid facilities in the city. This route-map has been drafted to assure that the shots are catered to maximum number of vulnerable categories with priority.

The state of Uttar Pradesh has started the training process of the vaccinators in Lucknow and other districts to ensure a thorough yet glitch-free immunisation drive. ANMs, MBBS interns, staff nurses and pharmacists, both from private and government sectors will be trained.

Lucknow COVID-19 update

So far, Lucknow has clocked a total tally of 75,210 confirmed cases out of which about 2,968 cases have receiving active treatment in the city hospitals, health care facilities and home isolation. The number of recoveries in the last 4 days have surged higher than that those of new infections and so far, 71,186 people in the city have recovered. The fatality ratio of the city stands at 1.4% with 1,056 deaths.

The Addition Chief Secretary of Health has appealed the people to take extra caution against the virus as pulmonary infections rise in the winters, increasing problems for people suffering from comorbidity(s), vulnerable age groups, pregnant women.
