First look: Hazratganj’s long-awaited makeover is changing how Lucknow's heart looks and feels

Lucknow's Hazratganj undergoes renovation; uniform signboards are a key feature

Lucknow’s beloved Hazratganj is shedding years of wear and tear and stepping into a thoughtful makeover that honours its storied past. The iconic 850-metre stretch—from the grand GPO to the DM’s residence—is being transformed with a swanky facelift, replacing tired cream-pink walls with elegant peach-and-walnut tones.

Renovation promises a cleaner, brighter & spacious Ganj!

Key updates include sleek new signages for a unified, modern look, along with structural reinforcements to preserve the charm of colonial-era buildings.

Pedestrian pathways are being expanded, ensuring a smoother, more enjoyable stroll. Encroachments are being cleared to open up more space, while the streets will be cleaned twice daily to keep the area spotless. Enhanced lighting, including new street lamps, alongside upgraded civic infrastructure, will make Hazratganj not only more functional but safer and more welcoming, both during the day and at night.
