In a bid to bolster state-wide immunity, the Uttar Pradesh government has opened up the vaccination facility for foreigners living here. As per reports, this population segment has to follow the new guidelines to get their vaccine jab. It may be noted that the vaccination provision is only for foreign residents and not tourists.

The Uttar Pradesh administration has established new guidelines to initiate COVID-19 vaccination for foreigners living in the state. Beneficiaries falling under this category have to register themselves and book the inoculation slot with the help of their passports. As per the official order issued by the Additional Chief Secretary, Health and Family Welfare, the provision will ease the safety of Buddhist monks living in Uttar Pradesh.

Besides this, the district inspectors of schools and district basic education officers have to ensure that vaccination centres are set up at all private and government schools. Setting up vaccination centres at these workplaces will ensure that all teaching and non-teaching staff are fully vaccinated against the virus.

All slots on Saturday to be reserved for second dose takers only

District officers have also been given the task to encourage vaccination among people whose second dose is due. To further this, all slots on Saturdays are now reserved for those lined up for their second shot, following a state order. The state has also highlighted the need to vaccinate the destitute, homeless, beggars and street dwellers in the state to achieve 100% vaccine coverage.
