Upcoming Forensic Institute in Lucknow's Sarojini Nagar to be made operational within a year!

Taking cognisance of the increasing rates of technology-related crimes, the Uttar Pradesh government has called for augmented efforts to deploy scientific and forensic investigation procedures. Aligning with this, the APJ Abdul Kalam Technical Institute has signed an MoU with the Uttar Pradesh Institute of Forensic Sciences. At the meeting, the Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh stated that the institute in Lucknow's Sarojini Nagar must be finalised within a year to begin operations.

As per reports, the CM instructed that the new institution in Lucknow should be affiliated with the National Forensic Sciences University of Gujarat. The institute will offer a range of courses to specialise in the field of forensic investigation and aid the supplement scientific examinations of crimes in the state. Reportedly, the Uttar Pradesh administration has already allotted a plot of 50 acres for the establishment of the new academic and research facility.

Reports state that a new Centre of Excellence will also be instituted to take benefits from the advanced facilities and services of the national university in Gujarat. It has been reported that this separate hub will be established in an area of 5 acres within the campus. Expected to help in the arena of DNA examination and analysis, this centre will be established with support from the Home Ministry, Government of India.

Given the evolving nature of crimes in the present day, such focused interventions have become the need of the hour. Now, with this latest intervention, the state government aims to ensure a deeper investigation of cybercrimes and other technology-related offences.
