This will be possible because the varsity has now received a ₹2.10 crore grant from the Science and Engineering Research Board (SERB) of the Ministry of Science and Technology, Government of India.

This grant, awarded under the State University Research Excellence (SURE) scheme, is set to bolster LU's ongoing endeavours in the fields of medicine, electronics, and other domains that promise to drive transformative changes for the betterment of society.

The scheme is expected to enhance the research landscape of the university

Reportedly, several faculty members at LU, including Neeraj Kumar Mishra, Seema Mishra, Pratibha Bansal, Sunil Kumar Rai of the chemistry department; Akansha Sharma, Ashutosh Ranjan of the zoology department and Prof. Shashi Bhushan, have been assigned a total of 7 projects worth ₹30 lahks each under the SURE scheme.

Additionally, the new education policy (NEP)-2020 highlights the significance of research and innovation in higher education. Thus, the grant received by the University of Lucknow under the scheme is expected to enhance the research landscape of the university, providing a platform for advanced learning opportunities to Master's and Ph.D. scholars.
