Lucknow residents woke up to a pleasant, breezy Friday morning, a welcome change from the recent scorching heat. This pleasant shift, however, is set to intensify into a significant weather event. The Meteorological Department has issued a multi-day alert, forecasting heavy to very heavy rainfall across Uttar Pradesh from October 3 to 7.

Eastern districts, including Varanasi and Prayagraj, are under an orange alert, with a red alert for extremely heavy rainfall issued for October 4th. While the capital, Lucknow, is not on the highest alert, it is expected to experience intermittent rain for the next three days, with temperatures ranging between 26°C and 32°C.

The department has warned of potential lightning and gusty winds reaching 40-50 km/h in numerous districts. Residents are advised to stay alert as the heavy downpour may lead to rising river levels and waterlogging in low-lying areas.
