Swedish furniture brand IKEA is set to expand its presence in Northern India. Starting March 1, the brand will launch its e-commerce services in Delhi-NCR and cities including Lucknow, Kanpur, Agra, Prayagraj (Allahabad), Amritsar, Chandigarh, Jaipur, Ludhiana and Varanasi.

To support its expansion in Northern cities, the brand has also inaugurated a distribution centre in Gurugram this week, which will complete same-day deliveries in Delhi-NCR.. IKEA will continue with its hybrid omnichannel approach, beginning with online sales before introducing physical stores. Currently, the brand's online channels generate over 30% of its sales.

IKEA to gradually develop a pan-India presence

IKEA, one of the world’s leading furniture brands, has already established a strong presence in the Indian market, known for its signature DIY (do-it-yourself) furniture range. With its expansion into Northern India, IKEA will offer customers access to over 7,000 products and home solutions through its app and website. Shoppers will not only be able to purchase DIY furniture but also benefit from the brand’s home furnishing expertise while the company will also provide installation support.

Until now, IKEA had been serving only the Western and Southern regions of India, with physical stores in Mumbai, Hyderabad, and Bengaluru. With this new initiative, the global furnishing giant aims to establish a pan-India presence.
