IOC inks MoU with Sulabh International for setting up of toilets at 48 filling stations in Lucknow

The new toilets will be maintained by Sulabh International under a one year contract.

The Indian Oil Corporation (IOC) has joined hands up with Sulabh International to set up toilets at 48 IOC filling station in Lucknow. As per reports, a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) has been inked between Jaiveer Mishra, General Manager retail, IOC, and Fateh Bahadur Singh, Controller, Sulabh International to maintain and operate these toilets. The collaboration is touted to line up better civic amenities and cleanliness in Lucknow.

Providing clean toilets to Indian Oil customers in Lucknow

As per the MoU, the move is in line with Swachh Bharat Abhiyan and aims to provide clean and hygenic facilities to all. The inked MoU also highlights the responsibilities of each parties. Under this, Indian Oil will be tasked to provide water and electricity to the Sulabh team which would be working in two shifts on a daily basis for keeping the toilets clean.

Elaborating the initiative, Sulabh International's Fateh Bahadur Singh said, "Initially, the agreement is for one year, but if things work out well, it could be extended. Indian Oil will be providing water and electricity to the Sulabh team which would be working in two shifts on a daily basis for keeping the toilets clean."

At first, the 48 selected filling stations will be divided into 17 groups to oversee their proper and effective functioning. Surprise inspection and checks will be conducted to ensure that the toilets are clean, hygienic, meet required sanitation measures and are fit for public use.

Additionally, this is not the first time that IOCL joined hands with Sulabh International for setting up and maintaining toilets at filling stations. In 2017, the Indian Oil Corporation initiated a first-of-its-kind programme in association with Sulabh International from Hyderabad.
