Section 163 of the Bhartiya Nyay Sanhita (BNS) has been imposed in Lucknow till January 12. Earlier known as Section 144, this step has been taken in view of the upcoming festivals like Kartik Purnima and the festivities around Christmas Day and the New Year.

Notably, imposing this section means that no social group or political party can conduct protests or rallies anywhere in Lucknow, except the Eco Garden in Alambagh.
