Traveling on city buses for women this Rakshabandhan has been made absolutely free by the state government. According to the directive, women will be able to avail free bus rides on city buses across 14 UP districts from midnight of August 30 to the midnight of August 31.

These districts include Mathura-Vrindavan, Agra, Shahjahanpur, Bareilly, Gorakhpur, Jhansi, Moradabad, Aligarh, Ghaziabad, Varanasi, Prayagraj, Meerut, Kanpur and Lucknow. It is noteworthy that this special gesture by the state administration was introduced few years ago and continues to remain a tradition in Uttar Pradesh.
