Following an extended period of chilly weather, Lucknowites were greeted with unexpected rain showers today. Over the past week, numerous UP cities, including Lucknow and Kanpur, have endured consistently bitter cold, often veiled in dense fog during late hours. The latest forecast from the Indian Meteorological Department predicts isolated rain showers in certain regions, ushering in a notable drop in minimum temperatures.

As per IMD predictions, Meerut recorded the lowest temperature in the state, plunging to a bone-chilling 6.4°C. Meanwhile, Lucknow experienced brisk winds, hinting at impending rainfall, with the minimum temperature clocking in at 8.4°C. Kanpur, too, witnessed moderate rainfall today.

In response to the evolving weather conditions, the IMD has issued an alert regarding poor visibility indexes for commuters in several UP cities in the coming days. The alert emphasizes the potential for the visibility index in Lucknow and Prayagraj to dip below 50m, reaching 'dense' levels, posing a hazardous situation for commuters.
