Along with the assertion of the updated national budget on February 1, dozens of general commodities are now expecting an increase in pricing. With a new excise regime becoming operational from April 1, an increment of 10% will be imposed on the licence fees of foreign liquor, beer, cannabis retail shops and model shops of Uttar Pradesh.

Additionally, as per the new licence policy, the licence and the security fee for bonded warehouse licenses of foreign liquor, beer and wine will also be increased. With this, a 10% increase on the minimum guarantee quota of country-made liquor has also been announced.

This in turn, will influence the overall liquor prices in all the UP cities. However, the extent of increase in pricing remains uncertain at present.
