Lucknow's King George's Medical University (KGMU) will now be offering free medical check-ups to the spouse of a body donor.

Additionally, a unique ID will be provided to the wife or husband of the donor so that they do not have to spend time in registering for a check-up. Like hospital staff, the family of the donor will also receive radiological, pathological and microbiological tests and screening during annual check-ups.

“KGMU conducts annual health check-up of its employees and teachers that includes several investigations. The same facility will be provided free of cost to the husband or wife of the donor,” Dr Sudhir Singh, spokesperson for KGMU, stated.

KGMU receives some 25-30 cadavers every year of people who pledged to donate their bodies in their life. The family members of the deceased then donate cadavers to the university which, in turn, helps MBBS and BDS students for medical education.
