With a motive to impart practical knowledge among the teachers persuing diploma in elementary education, the State Council of Educational Research and Training (SCERT) in UP will be introducting a new 'Lab School' approach.

Previously, D.El.Ed trainees were required to complete a 1-month internship to familiarize themselves with the operations of government schools. However, SCERT has recently instructed all District Institutes of Education and Training (DIETs) to select at least 5 schools based on their proximity, which will serve as lab schools. DIET principals are now tasked with sending D.El.Ed trainees to these lab schools in a rotational manner for practical training.

Reportedly, the first batch will visit the lab schools on September 8. This will make them familiar with the ground realities of school even before they are appointed.
