Due to ongoing construction work on the Ganga Expressway, traffic will be impacted on the Lucknow-Kanpur Highway near the Sonik turn in Unnao. The disruption is due to the installation of 16 girders for the expressway flyover. Work commenced on Monday, and the traffic diversion is expected to remain in place for at least a month.
As part of this process, one lane from Lucknow to Kanpur will remain closed, and traffic from both directions will be diverted to a single lane, slowing down traffic flow. Earlier, work was carried out on the lane from Kanpur to Lucknow, with a traffic diversion for 52 days over a 200-meter stretch.
Following the completion of that section on December 12, attention has now shifted to placing the remaining 16 girders on the Lucknow-Kanpur lane. Notably, the traffic will be diverted from the Bashiratganj area to the Kanpur lane, and vehicles will return to their respective lanes after passing the Sonik turn. Additional personnel will be deployed to manage traffic flow and minimize congestion.
