Knocksense Shorts | Lucknow Metro expansion plan derailed due to budget constraints

Lucknowites can anticipate the inclusion of fund allocation for the project in next year's budget.

Earlier this year, the Uttar Pradesh CM announced ambitious plans for the development of Lucknow Metro's second line. The proposed East-West corridor, stretching 11.16 km, is set to feature 12 new stations. This project aims to alleviate congestion in areas of Old Lucknow by establishing seamless rapid transit connectivity between Charbagh and Vasant Kunj.

However, despite these plans, the project has not received any allocations in the newly released UP state budget for 2024-25. Consequently, Lucknowites can anticipate the inclusion of fund allocation for the project in next year's budget.

Meanwhile, the UPMRC has commenced the process of preparing and submitting the Detailed Project Report (DPR) for the second corridor to the Cabinet for approval, with subsequent clearance anticipated from the Public Investment Board.
