A day after the Meteorological Department issued a heatwave 'Red Alert' in Lucknow, the capital recorded the hottest June in 5 years with a temperature of 44.7°C. Furthermore, the city's heat index is expected to reach 52 while temperatures might touch 48°C by June 14.

The heat experienced in Lucknow this year is a lot more intense as compared to the previous years. In view of the rising mercury and the heatwave, the MET Department has also put out an advisory asking people to seek ample precautions against the hot and dry winds lashing the city.
