Lucknow has long struggled with frequent road congestion due to the presence of bus stands within city areas. State buses currently congest stands like Qaiserbagh, Awadh Bus Stand in Kamta, Charbagh Bus Stand, and Alambagh Bus Stand, causing regular traffic snarls on the link routes.

To combat this city-wide issue, preparations are underway to establish multiple bus terminals on the city's outskirts. On Saturday, a meeting led by the district mayor was held at the Nagar Nigam Water Works department office, focusing on the construction of eight new bus terminals along the city's outer ring road. The discussion included plans for building these terminals on highways, ring roads, and the outer ring road in Lucknow.

Two years ago, efforts were initiated to develop a bus station outside the city to address congestion issues. However, the project faced delays and wasn't implemented. With city civic authorities now gearing up once again for this project, there is renewed hope for the establishment of the new bus terminals.
