The number of conjunctivitis cases in Lucknow is rising rapidly amid the monsoon season. This rise of infections is attributed to the proliferation of pathogenic bacteria tends to spread rapidly in the rainy weather. Rapidly, government hospitals in the city, including KGMU, are observing an average of 35-40 daily cases.

Conjunctivitis, commonly referred to as pink eye, is characterized by several symptoms, including redness in the eye, eye discharge, the formation of crust on the eyes, eyelids sticking or glueing together upon waking, blurry vision, sensitivity to light and eye irritation.

Owing to the situation, doctors have issued a strong warning advising people against procuring over-the-counter medicines from local medical stores. Instead, individuals are urged to promptly consult a medical professional upon experiencing any of the aforementioned symptoms.
