LMC authorities have put in place certain rules and guidelines associated with the proceedings of the civic polls. Reportedly, along with the onset of elections, multiple contenders are often found placing defamatory hoardings, banners and posters, sabotaging the city's reputation. To prevent this, LMC has now imposed fines of upto ₹5000 on the placing of unauthorized hoardings, banners etc.

Moreover, as per LMC's norms, the aspirants will be required to collect an NOC from the zonal office after clearing all of their dues to stand eligible for contesting during the elections. Presently, the nomination procedure for the LMC elections is underway and the dates for the civic polls will be announced on December 12.
