Knocksense Shorts | QR code tech to help UP govt. track school textbooks distributed for free

The QR code technology will help the govt. trace around 16 crore textbooks, that will be distributed among 1.2 crore students between classes 1 to 8.

In an attempt to ensure transparent distribution of free textbooks to students across schools in UP, the government has collaborated with an IT firm to use QR code technology from 2023-24 academic session, to track and trace textbooks. Every textbook will have a QR code unique to it, helping the authorities to seamlessly track that book.

It is noteworthy that the new tracking system, called the Workbook Textbook Management System (WTMS), will kick off on a pilot basis with 1,000 Lucknow schools in April. With this online textbook tracking system in UP, the education department will be able to identify any delays in distribution while also keeping track of the number of books delivered to schools in the state.
