With the aim of mitigating and preventing filariasis cases throughout the state, the Uttar Pradesh Health and Family Welfare Department has initiated a comprehensive drug administration drive. Commencing from today, August 10, the campaign is set to encompass 27 filaria endemic districts within the state, including Kanpur, Kanpur Dehat and neighbouring districts of Lucknow, among others.

Notably, Filariasis is a condition resulting from a persistent mosquito-borne parasitic infection, that can lead to enduring health issues. There is no treatment of the disease and a person is left to manage its implications all their life but preventive medicine can save them from falling prey to the disease.

Reportedly, a rapid response team will be available in each block to assist anyone who faces complications related to the disease.
