After reaching dangerously close to ₹200/kg, tomato prices in UP have come down to around ₹100/kg in the last five days. The reason behind this much-awaited drop in prices of tomato is the arrival of a fresh stock from Himachal Pradesh and Madhya Pradesh.

Traders are of the opinion that tomato prices in Uttar Pradesh will come down even further in the next 15 days. Some wholesalers are confident that the prices will come down to ₹60/kg.

It is also noteworthy that Andhra Pradesh, Telangana, Tamil Nadu, Madhya Pradesh, Maharashtra and Karnataka are planning to boost production between August-October. With this, we can expect normalcy in tomato prices in the coming months.
