To accommodate the surge in travel demand during summer vacations, Indian Railways is set to introduce three new Vande Bharat routes from Lucknow. These high-speed trains will connect Lucknow to Jammu, Jaipur, and Bhopal, providing a faster and more comfortable travel option for around 3,200 passengers daily.
The Northern and North Eastern Railway departments are also focused on upgrading infrastructure to support smoother operations. The Ganga bridge on the Kanpur route is undergoing repairs after 29 years, while work is in progress on the Gorakhpur route to enhance track speed. In areas where trains previously operated at 80-100 km/h, the speed has now been increased to 130 km/h.
The new Vande Bharat services will operate from Charbagh Railway Station to Jammu and from Gomti Nagar Station to Bhopal and Jaipur. The Railway Board is awaiting the final approvals, and these trains are expected to be operational within the next three months. The new services are touted to offer passengers a premium travel experience during the holiday season.
